…nothing is off limits at Songs Over Style, one of the culminating events of the 2nd annual SOLO: South Louisiana Songwriters Festival & Workshop.
Songs Over Style returns with another unprecedented evening of original songs performed by a stylistically diverse collection of artists from across South Louisiana — and across the pond.
The evening will begin with SOLO’s School Program Showcase featuring local students performing new songs created in their classrooms as part of SOLO’s new educational component presented with the support of CREATE Lafayette.
Then eight genre-bending and style-defying songwriters will share the stage for the first time ever. A limited number of discounted advance tickets are available now for $20 each for this very special evening with Sonny Landreth, Jon Cleary, Quintron + Miss Pussycat, Mary Gauthier, Cupid, Jamie N Commons, and C.C. Adcock via TicketWeb.
SONNY LANDRETH’s sense of melody and his lyrics are as inventive as his astounding slide guitar playing. This show will focus on our hometown hero’s ability to pen a song in the local patois while consistently transcending regional stylistic clichés.
JON CLEARY’s path from Great Britain to The Bywater is punctuated by Cuban and Crescent City rhythms, and his acclaimed recordings and work with Bonnie Raitt, Taj Mahal, and Dr. John showcase his wry virtuosity.
QUINTRON + MISS PUSSYCAT’s raw dance hooks power their slyly unforgettable songs - DIY, lo-fi, analog inventions that are cutting-edge infectious — born out of New Orleans’ infamous Spellcaster Lodge.
MARY GAUTHIER is a Thibodaux, Louisiana native who wrote her first song at 35 years of age and is now a Grand Ole Opry regular whose work has been covered by Bettye LaVette and Tim McGraw.
CUPID’s catch tunes will remain in rotation for generations to come, built on Creole rhythms and his R&B shops. His “Cupid Shuffle” is a multi-million seller.
JAMIE N COMMONS hails from Bristol, England, and his love of southern culture has led him to collaborations with Jay-Z, Eminem, Rhianna, X Ambassadors … as well as Cleary and Adcock.
CC ADCOCK’s work has spanned blues, rock, folk, and film beginning with his major label debut in 1994. As the evening’s producer and host, Adcock will draw from his passion for making music with heroes and friends to help inspire this unparalleled roomful of talent to ignite another unforgettable night of collaboration.
THIS SHOW WILL SELL OUT.
Seating is limited, and advance ticket holders will be admitted first to this very special general admission event.
